Two post in ONE day?!?! - "No way!" :)
Well, here I am again, but this time posting about something more serious, and that would be the culture of our public schools today. As I was reading the book "America's Christian History: The Untold Story" by Gary DeMar, he gives many examples of how the people today do not want anything to do with Christ in their schools, or in America and I thought I would share share some of the examples he gave:
1) The Pennsylvania Supreme Court threw out a sentence of a murderer who killed a 70-year-old woman with an ax, on the grounds that the prosecutor had unlawfully cited biblical law to the jury in his summation urging the death penalty.
2) In Decatur, Illinois , a primary-school teacher discovered the word of God in a phonics textbook and ordered her class of seven-year-old to strike it out, saying that it is against the law to mention God in the public school.
3) A federal judge in Grand Rapids, Michigan, ordered a public school to remove a portrait of Jesus that had been displayed in a hall for thirty years.
4) A public school teacher was ordered by his principal to remove from view of his students the Bible he kept on his desk and read silently at recess.
5) A war memorial to University of Virginia law students killed in the Civil War was removed from the law school's hallway because it contain a message that was overtly religious.
6) In New York, a prison guard was fired because he wore the cross he had inherited from his father under his shirt while he was on duty.
7) The United States Postal Service began the 1994 holiday season by announcing that stamps depicting the Virgin Mary and the Christ Child would no longer adorn Christmas stamps. The new seasonal stamps were to feature a 'Victorian-era angel', Santa Claus, and children with holiday gifts. After some protest the Postal Service rescinded the Herodian edict. This did not stop Postal Service officials from nixing the greeting "Merry Christmas", however. The new rule states: "Expressions 'Seasons Greetings' and 'Happy Holidays' must be used in lieu of 'Merry Christmas' or 'Happy Hanukkah'....Avoid the appearance of favoring any particular religion or religion itself".
And here is the closing in what Gary DeMar said about it:
"Rarely are such instances of "religious cleansing" seen as a threat to the religious liberties of Christians or a violation of the First Amendment to the Constitution. Neither are they regarded as official acts of censorship by those who cry "censorship" at the drop of a hat."
Anyway, that's it for now, I hope this opened your eyes a little more to see how much our Nation needs Christ, especially now, as our Country blindly walks down the path of destruction...Keep praying that God would use YOUR family to spread His Gospel throughout America.
